It is always darkest before the dawn, and the dawn is always that much brighter after a protracted darkness.
It is during an extended period of blackness, of gloom, that we must not faint, but continue to push forward with strength, like a caterpillar in its cocoon, to birth a new reality; a reality of compassion.
To maintain strength, courage and endurance to travel the distance from dark to light, we may need to lean on one-another, carry another, or be carried for a period of time. Lean and carry, or be carried, as you need, to keep yourself strong on your journey of creating a world filled with compassion. Therein lies the light.
